Almost a week since my last entry here, and the beginning of a new Hebrew year. I attended Rosh haShana and Sabbath services at Chabad, worked on some political stuff Sunday, and spent most of the day yesterday on the job trail. Alas, I've been neglecting my reading, and I mean to get back to that today!
I spent some time studying the State Legislature districts and legislators in my area, as well as the County Commissioner districts. Also reviewed the recording of public testimony at a recent County Commissioners meeting, and took notes.
On the job front, I'm pleased to report that I've got an interview scheduled for next week. Meanwhile, it looks like my unemployment insurance payments have been approved. (So my last employer did not, at least, malign me so badly as to render me ineligible for UI by reason of some misconduct.)
With these hopeful developments, I feel like I can relax just a little about the job situation and enjoy the downtime for the break from work that it is. I've been able to spend some leisurely time tidying up the apartment, and in the course of my jobseeking activities I've had the opportunity to tidy up my personal papers and computer files. I'm updating my work history spreadsheet; this is distinct from the resume that I present to employers, and is mostly for my own reference (and for the Employment Department as needed). It lists exact start and end dates and pay rates, and it includes those short-term and ill-starred jobs that I wouldn't put on my resume.
I've been watching my diet and hitting the gym on a daily basis, and I'm pleased to see my weight trending downward. I am cautiously optimistic that I can get it solidly below 180 lbs in the near future.
Goals for today: get some more writing and posting done, including a write-up of the County Commissioners meeting (which I'll probably post here under a friends filter), and thoughts on recent events. And back to the books! [340]
