asher553With Passover just finished, I enjoyed a couple of english muffins for breakfast, and I'm relaxing with a beer now. I took the opportunity of the holiday to get more familiar with the text of the Haggadah. I was struck by the themes of continuity of past and future, and the sense of responsibility that goes with the consciousness of having been redeemed.
I've been keeping busy since my journal entries in February. Late March and early April saw a series of candidate events and debates for our side in Oregon, most of which I was able to attend. I'm pleased to report that my friend Todd M. has announced his candidacy for a seat in the Oregon legislature, which the incumbent party had formerly held unopposed.
Between Passover and taxes and going to candidate events, I've been keeping a pretty full schedule, and I've been dodging out of canvassing so far. I confess I have a hard time working up enthusiasm for door-knocking: "Everybody wants to be a patriot, until it's time to do patriot shit." But I'm promising myself I'll get started on it in the coming week; I've got a walklist with a number of names of folks who lean in our direction and live in my complex.
But it was a beautiful day today here in Hillsboro - finally getting the winter weather behind us - and I got out for some walking and running this morning. This afternoon, I took a stroll southbound on the Rock Creek Trail, and took a few pictures while I was at it.
