Why does that sound like a campaign promise?
Rafah, at the southern tip of the Gaza Strip, is the last stronghold of Hamas control. By conquering Rafah, Israel would deal a decisive and humiliating defeat to Hamas. By failing to do so, Israel would allow Hamas to reconstitute itself and rise phoenix-like from the ashes in a propaganda victory.
The Biden regime, of course, understands all of this.
