asher553GENE WOLFE: BOOK OF THE NEW SUN. I read this book years ago when it was newish and I was youngish. I'm giving it another reading now, and enjoying it better and getting more out of it. I am getting close to the half-way point, and I'll post a decent write-up when I'm done or close to done. Wolfe was an engineer by profession and a classicist by avocation, and a devout Catholic. All of those elements combine to help make his fiction, and in particular BOTNS, what it is.

Tackles storylines (ten genres, from 'Monster in the House' to 'Dude with a Problem' to 'Superhero') and structure (fifteen beats). Just started both, but it looks like it could be very useful.
