Old and New
2007-02-08 16:57New: the job! It's an early shift (7:30am) and the pay isn't spectacular, but it's just the kind of work I want to get experience in: scanning documents. It's the next step forward from photocopy work, which is where most of my clerical experience is clustered, and certain to be a growing industry in the digital age. The work environment is fairly strict in terms of production quotas and stuff, but I'm not going to let that scare me. I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to make a success of this.
Old/new: my Dad's memoir! An old friend of Stephanie's mailed it from San Francisco; it had been among Stephanie's effects when she died. I think I remember him mentioning that he was working on a memoir of his life, but I don't think I ever saw it. Now it's sitting on my desk, all 20 pages of it. This is very exciting.
