He was a progger.

'Hemsley is a self-proclaimed fan of 1970s progressive rock bands[3] including Yes,[3] Gentle Giant and Nektar. On his appearance on Dinah!, Hemsley performed a dance to the Gentle Giant song "Proclamation" from The Power and the Glory. After his dance, Shore was laughing and asked what kind of music that was. Sherman then proceeded to give a 5-minute speech on Gentle Giant.[4] Hemsley can also been seen wearing a Nektar T-shirt during his interview with Norman Lear when Lear hosted Saturday Night Live from Season 2 Episode 26. In 1999, he collaborated with Yes founder Jon Anderson on an album titled Festival of Dreams which was not released.[5]'

So I spent the middle part of the day (from 10 to 1) watching 'Richard II' on the new TV. Not exactly a bad way to spend 3 hours. Great play, although well before the halfway mark I found myself dearly wishing that the old man would just SHUT. THE FUCK. UP. And what a narcissist! From beginning to end. The scene where he's looking in the mirror for signs of his own suffering nails it. And indecisive - throughout his whole, drawn-out downfall to Henry, he can't make up his mind whether to fight or surrender. When people stand, he wants them to kneel, and when (5 minutes later) they kneel, he wants them to stand. And through it all, he spends more time blabbering about going to heaven, or getting help from heaven, or sending other people to hell. It's as if his attention is mostly in this ethereal, fantasy world of his own mind. What a consummate, well, dickhead.
