The Northwest is known for rainy weather, but usually at this time of year it's quite pleasant. In this area, we typically see the last of the nasty winter weather by around Valentine's Day, and from about mid-February to mid-March there's this sort of unsettled period. By the time April rolls around, you can tell it's spring.

But this year, the unsettled period has just dragged on and on. It's been a mix of cloudy and partly cloudy, a little rain and a little sun, off and on for week after week.

There's some change in the air for me: I've been offered, and have accepted, a new job. It's with a company in the aerospace industry, based here in the Northwest, doing basically what I'm doing now (IT support) for a little bit more money, and in an industry that I have a little more personal connection with.

On the community front, I've been tasked with organizing volunteers to staff our booths at local events. I've done three shifts myself so far at the Farmers' Market in my neighborhood, and the response has been very positive. In an area that's not generally thought of as friendly to our side, I haven't had (thank G-d) a single hostile interaction, and a good many supportive ones. I wouldn't try this in Portland, but here it's a different world.
