asher553The new roommate prospect seems like he might be a good fit. After giving him a whirlwind tour of the unit, I walked him down to the apartment office to get an application and meet the leasing staff. It's sort of like taking your date home to meet Mom and Dad.
At Trader Joe's I splurged and got a small pack of lox, which I had for dinner with swiss cheese and mayo in a sandwich of crispbread. The mayo served as an adhesive to allow me to eat the thing without bits flying everywhere, similar to the principle of the layer of polymer sandwiched in a pane of shatterproof glass. Pickle slices added some astringency to balance the heavy, oily taste of the smoked salmon, and the whole thing was quite good.
(Why are crisp tacos even a thing? You've got all this messy food stuffed inside a brittle, saddle-shaped shell that's going to splinter the minute you bite into it. I just don't get it.)
