Yesterday some of my friends from our local Election Integrity group put in an appearance at the County Commissioners meeting. Being preoccupied with the job search and whatnot, I couldn't make it, but I am pleased to report that our people had a productive day and made a real impact. I will likely post a link to the meeting under a friends cut.

I did make it to the Party meeting last night, and had the chance to report on how we've been able to convert walk-ups at local community events (such as the County Fair) into active volunteers. I gave a shout-out to my partners in the group who have been helping me on this.

And I don't want to count the proverbial chickens while still unhatched, but I've had a potentially promising response on the job front.

It's funny how the time elapsed between first contact in a job search, and actually starting work, can vary so widely. The fastest I've ever gotten hired was for a tech support job with a hotel chain back in 2017: I remember I literally got the call on Tuesday, interviewed on Wednesday, and started work on Thursday. The longest wait was probably for my recently-ended job with the chipmaking equipment company: the recruiter contacted me in January of last year, then I didn't hear anything for months, then out of the blue I got a call saying "Hey, ya still want that job at **** Company?" It was a total of six months elapsed between first contact and starting work.

Anyway, I am going to put those mundane cares aside, and get ready for Rosh haShana. May 5785 bring prosperity and blessings. [281]
