Things That Bug Me
2011-05-23 15:191. Pawlenty has announced he's running in the GOP race. And yet nobody seems to be addressing the really important question, which is HOW IN THE HECK DO YOU ACCENT THIS MAN'S NAME?!? I mean, you've got the "aw" vowel in the antepenult (where it's got no business being in the first place) competing with the "nt" consonant group in the next syllable. But I suppose I shouldn't, er, stress over it.
2. Found on Answers.com: "Hydrogen is the most common atom in the universe, and oxygen is the third most common, so water has to be the number one compound." ARRRGGGGH! What's wrong with this statement? You got it: Factually correct, logically lame. It makes me want to stick my head in a bucket of dry ice and ammonia. This bothered me so much I had to create a question on OKCupid just to vent. (Honestly. Element #2 is helium, for frak's sake. You'd think that would have sent up the "glaring fallacy" flag.)
So you're probably thinking, "Geeeeez, a63, if those are your biggest problems, life can't be too bad for you these days." And yeah, it's true, I can't complain. Things are going pretty good.
